Do you guys sell movies?
Yes, you can buy any title from our collection of lightly used DVDs and we will charge you the Amazon price (not including Amazon's freight charges of course). Most people think that's a pretty good deal.


How do I find that film with that guy, I think it is an older movie, it was directed by whatshisname?
Given only limited information, we find your film through our secret network of spies.


How do you guys do late fees?
New releases are $7.70/day or $4.40.day (the exact same as renting it for an extra day).

In order to rent, late fees have to be paid down to $8.00. That means you can still rent if you have fees under $8.00! Aren't we nice.

If you've built up a hefty sum, Amnesty day is on the first of every month. You get half off your late fees if you come by.


Do you have a night drop box?
Yes, it is located next to the door at the store. It is only open when we are closed, otherwise run the movies inside.


When are movies due?
New releases are due the day after renting. If you bring a new release that you paid for back the day you rented it before 7pm, you get a dollar credit on your account.

Old releases are due 3 days after renting by 9pm.


I don't know what I want to watch, any recommendations?
We are all a bunch of big nerds, so check out the employee's pick section or ask an employee. Also, be sure to check our famous Back Wall for 100s of the best movies ever made.


Your store is confusing, how do I find stuff?
We make it deliberately confusing because we're lonely and could use the company. Just ask and we'll lead you to your desired film.


Where are you guys located?
Our Fitzroy store is at 54 Johnston street, right next door to Kanela Tapas and opposite Spanish Club in what is now known as the Spanish district. Our Carlton store is now in Video Heaven. 


How can I stalk this super hot Video Dogs employee?
You might be able to find us at Old Bar, or Joe's Shoe Store. That is, if we're not sitting at home doing origami and catching up on the complete Alan Bennett [Note: the Video Dogs management does not support creepiness, don't actually stalk us please.]


I'm thirsty, do you have something to drink?
Nope. 


Can I bring my dog/cat/tame possum in?
Please. We like animals. We even have dog treats.


How can I tell if something is checked in/out?
Our online database does not say what is in stock, please call to check before you come in.


How do I get a membership?
We need a current government issued ID and a debit or credit card. If your ID doesn't have your current address, bring in proof of address like a bill or piece of mail.
We do accept membership from out of town.


I have this massive late fee, help me!
Come in on the first of the month and you get 1/2 off your late fee.


I rented this movie and it's broke!
Come by the store and let us know. We'll exchange it for something else or put a credit on your account. If you don't tell us it's broken, we won't know to fix it.


I rented this movie and it's not the right movie in the case!
Whoopsy, our mistake. Come by the store and let us know. We'll exchange it for the right film, for something else or put a credit on your account.


Do you take credit cards?
No we only take wooden nickels. Yes, of course we do. Visa/Mastercard. No AmEx. Better luck next time Diner's Club.


Do you take checks?
Yes, the last two things you can pay with checks are your rent and your Video Dogs bill.


Do you have gift certificates?
Available in any denomination, our gift certificates are guaranteed to make total film nerds giddy.

I have an account at your old store, does it transfer to the new store?
Yes, your account will transfer to the new store instantly. You can only return movies to the new store.


I had an account back when Pogs were cool, is it still in the system?
Chances are you're still in the matrix; if not we can start an account for you quick smart, chop chop.


I lost/broke this film I rented, help!
Contact the manager at the corresponding store. Don't worry, we'll work it out. It'll be a lose/lose situation.


Can my friend/family member/boyfriend/girlfriend/partner/whatever the jub-jub rent on my account?
Yes, we can add them when you're in the store or over the phone, but we cannot rent to them if they just have your license. They need to know your password.


Do you sell my information?
We run on DOS. We don't have the inclination, time, or technical ability to sell any of your info. And that's a promise.
